“Not just for nurses — for anyone who’s ever felt tired, stretched, or quietly held together by faith.”
WELCOME
Hey there- glad you made it.
Nursing is tough. It’s what first led me to start this site — a space to answer questions, offer support, and share what I’ve learned from 25 years in the healthcare trenches.
But somewhere along the way — through the late nights, tech headaches, and figuring out how to even build a site — I may have stumbled into something bigger.
Yes, you’ll still find stories from my time in medicine. The wild nights, the hard lessons, the laughs in between. But the heart that carried me through it all — the part that refused to give up — was shaped by something deeper:
Faith.
So here I am.
Still a nurse.
Still showing up.
But maybe with a new direction — one that leans just a little more boldly into the light that’s kept me going.
If you’re here, maybe you’re tired. Maybe you’re searching.
Or maybe you're just curious.
Wherever you are — welcome.
Let’s see what happens when we walk this road together.
Let’s lift up others. And maybe… help bring a few people a little closer to God.
A little about me

Hi, I’m Allen. I’ve been a nurse for over 25 years, most of that time in the emergency room, but I spent 8 years in the ICU, and for the past 8 years I have been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner. I’ve seen a lot, done a lot, and learned more than I ever imagined. My early days were filled with fear and doubt, but along the way, mentors, colleagues, and hard-won experiences shaped me into the nurse I am today.
I started Making Nursing Fun because I believe nursing is more than tasks and checklists — it’s a calling. But it’s also heavy, overwhelming, and sometimes nothing like what we expected. I want this space to be a place where:
-
New nurses can find guidance and encouragement when they’re asking, “Where do I even start?”
-
Seasoned nurses can be reminded they’re not alone in the struggles and burnout of today’s healthcare world.
-
Anyone stepping into the ER can hear that while it looks intimidating, it’s not impossible — with dedication, it can even be rewarding.
-
Every nurse can pick up tips, shortcuts, and encouragement from someone who’s wrestled with the same questions.
This blog isn’t about perfection — it’s about real stories, real lessons, and keeping the heart of nursing alive. My hope is that when you leave here, you’ll feel a little lighter, a little stronger, and reminded that you’re not in this work alone.
