WELCOME
Hey there — glad you made it.
Nursing is tough. Some days it takes everything you’ve got. That’s why I built Making Nursing Fun Again — a place to swap stories, trade tips, and remind ourselves that we’re not in this alone.
Check out the blog. You’ll find bits of encouragement, a few laughs from real-life shifts, and maybe even something that makes tomorrow feel just a little easier

A little about me
Hi, I’m Allen. I’ve been a nurse for over 25 years, most of that time in the emergency room, but I spent 8 years in the ICU, and for the past 8 years I have been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner. I’ve seen a lot, done a lot, and learned more than I ever imagined. My early days were filled with fear and doubt, but along the way, mentors, colleagues, and hard-won experiences shaped me into the nurse I am today.
I started Making Nursing Fun because I believe nursing is more than tasks and checklists — it’s a calling. But it’s also heavy, overwhelming, and sometimes nothing like what we expected. I want this space to be a place where:
-
New nurses can find guidance and encouragement when they’re asking, “Where do I even start?”
-
Seasoned nurses can be reminded they’re not alone in the struggles and burnout of today’s healthcare world.
-
Anyone stepping into the ER can hear that while it looks intimidating, it’s not impossible — with dedication, it can even be rewarding.
-
Every nurse can pick up tips, shortcuts, and encouragement from someone who’s wrestled with the same questions.
This blog isn’t about perfection — it’s about real stories, real lessons, and keeping the heart of nursing alive. My hope is that when you leave here, you’ll feel a little lighter, a little stronger, and reminded that you’re not in this work alone.
